Rebuild Kerala Development Programme (RKDP) is launched to make Kerala resilient to future Disasters. Risk-informed Urban Planning and Development is one of the components (Disbursement Linked Indicator- DLI 4) identified for policy reforms. A guideline has been prepared for the preparation of risk informed master plans and it has been approved by the Government vide G.O.(Ms.) No. 120/2022/LSGS dated 09.06.2022.
This guideline aims at supporting Local Self Governments across the State to prepare Risk Informed Master Plans in a structured manner, to give sufficient guiding principle and directions for mainstreaming Disaster Risk information in the Master Plan. The guidelines also provide the methodology for preparation of these master plans in alignment with the Kerala Town and Country Planning Act (as amended in 2021). DLI 4 has been envisaged to prepare Risk Informed Master Plans for the ULBs in the Pamba river basin districts through a participatory planning approach. In accordance with that, multiple focused groups trainings have been scheduled for three months. As a part of this two days training conducted at KILA on 22nd and 23rd of January 2024.
